Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District

Yorba Linda High School Marquee
In September 2009, the Members of the Yorba Linda Sunrise Rotary Club voted unanimously to sponsor the marquee at the new Yorba Linda High School. The $30,000 gift came from the Special Projects Account of the Club's Foundation. The marquee, at the first-ever high school in the City of Yorba Linda, stands 17 feet tall, is emblazoned with the school's name; incorporates an electronic message center, and proudly displays the Club's name and Rotary International logo.

"Creating a relationship with the new high school and assisting the school district during these tough economic times were at the core of our decision to make this gift," noted 2009–10 YL Sunrise Rotary Club President Jim Resha. "Over time, the marquee will become an information resource for students, their parents and local residents. Add to that, the fact that our Club name and the Rotary logo will be displayed on the marquee and it's a win-win situation for all. It's just a great way to invest in our community."

Yorba Linda Sunrise Rotary Club Foundation's Education Fund
The Club, and subsequently its Foundation, have provided more than $185,000 in grants to private and public elementary and middle school teachers in the Placentia–Yorba Linda Unified School District since the fund was established in 2001–02. School principals assist in identifying teachers deserving of a $250 grant. Foundation members select the teachers who will be receiving the grants based on an application that describes how the funds will be used.
